The average export price for iron or non-alloy steel; bars and rods, hot-rolled, in irregularly wound coilses stood at $669 per ton in August 2023, remaining relatively unchanged against the previous month. In general, the export price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in April 2023 an increase of 5.4% m-o-m. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the peak figure at $735 per ton in January 2023; however, from February 2023 to August 2023, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Cyprus ($1,248 per ton), while the average price for exports to Albania ($569 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From December 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Cyprus (+7.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In general, the import price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure at $789 per ton in June 2023; however, from July 2023 to August 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Italy ($1,401 per ton), while the price for Bulgaria ($728 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
