Price for Iodine, Fluorine and Bromine in Russia (CIF) - 2022
The average iodine, fluorine and bromine import price stood at $45,336 per ton in January 2022, increasing by 45% against the previous month. Overall, import price indicated a measured expansion from January 2021 to January 2022: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +2.9% over the last twelve-month period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on January 2022 figures, iodine, fluorine and bromine import price increased by +80.0% against November 2021 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in May 2021 when the average import price increased by 71% month-to-month. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure in January 2022.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In January 2022, the country with the highest price was Azerbaijan ($56,000 per ton), while the price for India amounted to $9,860 per ton.
From January 2021 to January 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Azerbaijan (+5.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average iodine, fluorine and bromine export price stood at $15,270 per ton in 2022, rising by 6.5% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, showed a abrupt downturn. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 when the average export price increased by 50% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $31,374 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Kazakhstan ($64,561 per ton), while the average price for exports to Ukraine ($9,543 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Uzbekistan (+14.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Imports of Iodine, Fluorine and Bromine in Russia
In 2022, supplies from abroad of iodine, fluorine and bromine decreased by -5.5% to 310 tons, falling for the second consecutive year after two years of growth. Overall, imports continue to indicate a abrupt curtailment. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 4.1% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of 384 tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
