Price for Hydrogen, Rare Gases and Other Non-Metals in Nigeria (CIF) - 2022

The average import price for hydrogen, rare gases and other non-metalses stood at $1.7 per cubic meter in 2022, falling by -4.9% against the previous year. In general, the import price saw a mild contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when the average import price increased by 40%. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure at $2 per cubic meter in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was China ($2.5 per cubic meter), while the price for France ($0.7 per cubic meter) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by China (+2.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.

Imports of Hydrogen, Rare Gases and Other Non-Metals in Nigeria

In 2022, imports of hydrogen, rare gases and other non-metalses into Nigeria expanded modestly to 4.3M cubic meters, surging by 2.7% on the previous year's figure. Over the period under review, imports, however, faced a deep slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 33%. As a result, imports attained the peak of 7.9M cubic meters. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports of remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, imports of hydrogen, rare gases and other non-metalses reduced to $7.5M in 2022. Overall, total imports indicated resilient growth from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +6.1% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports decreased by -28.2% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 67%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $10M. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports of remained at a lower figure.
