In 2022, the average import price for hydrogen, rare gases and other non-metalses amounted to $1.2 per cubic meter, surging by 10% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price saw a buoyant increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when the average import price increased by 45%. The import price peaked in 2022 and is likely to continue growth in the near future.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($3.9 per cubic meter), while the price for the Czech Republic ($0.2 per cubic meter) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Germany (+9.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the peak figure in 2022 and is likely to see steady growth in the immediate term.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($19 per cubic meter), while the average price for exports to Croatia ($0.4 per cubic meter) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Germany (+21.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, supplies from abroad of hydrogen, rare gases and other non-metalses increased by 26% to 52M cubic meters for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year declining trend. In general, imports, however, recorded a slight reduction.
