Price for Homogenised Jam and Marmalade in Malaysia (CIF) - 2022
In 2022, the average homogenised jam and marmalade import price amounted to $1,829 per ton, therefore, remained relatively stable against the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +2.2%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 an increase of 21% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $2,332 per ton in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Italy ($5,497 per ton), while the price for Costa Rica ($729 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Brazil (+2.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Price for Homogenised Jam and Marmalade in Malaysia (FOB) - 2022
The average homogenised jam and marmalade export price stood at $1,674 per ton in 2022, surging by 6.1% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, saw a pronounced curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 when the average export price increased by 34% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $3,494 per ton in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Thailand ($4,608 per ton), while the average price for exports to Ghana ($414 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Thailand (+10.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Imports of Homogenised Jam and Marmalade in Malaysia
In 2022, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in supplies from abroad of homogenised preparations of jams, fruit jellies and marmalades, when their volume decreased by -16.3% to 1K tons. In general, total imports indicated a resilient expansion from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +17.1% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +60.5% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 52%. As a result, imports attained the peak of 1.2K tons, and then shrank dramatically in the following year.
In value terms, homogenised jam and marmalade imports dropped markedly to $1.8M in 2022. Overall, total imports indicated a remarkable increase from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +13.7% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +47.0% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 46% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $2.2M, and then contracted dramatically in the following year.
