The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, exports increased by +8.3% against 2017 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when exports increased by 52%. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.

Singapore (X tons), Indonesia (X tons) and China (X tons) were the main destinations of fruit or nut preserves exports from Malaysia, with a combined 46% share of total exports. These countries were followed by Thailand, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Australia, Japan, the Philippines, Vietnam, Brunei Darussalam, Maldives, Kuwait and the United States, which together accounted for a further 38%.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were in Kuwait (with a CAGR of +53.4%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest markets for fruit or nut preserves exported from Malaysia were Singapore ($X), China ($X) and Indonesia ($X), with a combined 42% share of total exports. These countries were followed by Thailand, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Japan, Australia, Kuwait, Vietnam, the Philippines, Maldives, Brunei Darussalam and the United States, which together accounted for a further 43%.
Among the main countries of destination, Kuwait, with a CAGR of +67.9%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Export Prices by Country
The average fruit or nut preserves export price stood at $X per ton in 2021, rising by 9.1% against the previous year. In general, export price indicated prominent growth from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +6.7% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, fruit or nut preserves export price increased by +18.2% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 an increase of 33%. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Imports peaked at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

The average fruit or nut preserves import price stood at $X per ton in 2021, approximately equating the previous year. In general, the import price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 when the average import price increased by 8%. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2019 to 2021, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was France ($X per ton), while the price for India ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
