Price for Grapes; Fresh or Dried in Slovakia (CIF) - 2022

In 2022, the average grapes; fresh or dried import price amounted to $1,747 per ton, declining by -7.8% against the previous year. In general, the import price saw a mild decrease. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when the average import price increased by 8.9%. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $2,028 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Brazil ($3,875 per ton), while the price for Belgium ($396 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Brazil (+2.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In August 2023, the average grapes; fresh or dried export price amounted to $2,481 per ton, with a decrease of -10.5% against the previous month. Overall, export price indicated perceptible growth from August 2022 to August 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +2.1% over the last twelve months. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on August 2023 figures, grapes; fresh or dried export price decreased by -19.1% against June 2023 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in April 2023 when the average export price increased by 14% m-o-m. The export price peaked at $3,068 per ton in June 2023; however, from July 2023 to August 2023, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

Average prices varied noticeably for the major foreign markets. In August 2023, the highest price was recorded for prices to Romania ($2,800 per ton) and the Czech Republic ($2,465 per ton), while the average price for exports to Germany ($2,352 per ton) and Hungary ($2,431 per ton) were amongst the lowest.

From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Germany (+3.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports of Grapes; Fresh or Dried in Slovakia

For the fourth consecutive year, Slovakia recorded growth in purchases abroad of grapes; fresh or drieds, which increased by 2.2% to 21K tons in 2022. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +4.8% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being observed throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 6.6% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum in 2022 and are likely to continue growth in years to come.

In value terms, grapes; fresh or dried imports declined to $37M in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +5.8% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 14%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $40M, and then fell in the following year.
