Price for Grapes; Fresh or Dried in Russia (CIF) - 2022
The average grapes; fresh or dried import price stood at $1,555 per ton in January 2022, growing by 23% against the previous month. In general, the import price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in December 2021 an increase of 24% month-to-month. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure at $1,787 per ton in June 2021; however, from July 2021 to January 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In January 2022, the country with the highest price was India ($2,377 per ton), while the price for Uzbekistan ($1,103 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2021 to January 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Turkey (+4.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In January 2022, the average grapes; fresh or dried export price amounted to $596 per ton, dropping by -15.8% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price continues to indicate a perceptible decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in February 2021 an increase of 36% m-o-m. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum at $1,441 per ton in June 2021; however, from July 2021 to January 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In January 2022, the country with the highest price was Belarus ($2,182 per ton), while the average price for exports to Ukraine ($546 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2021 to January 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Belarus (+3.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.
Imports of Grapes; Fresh or Dried in Russia
After three years of growth, overseas purchases of grapes; fresh or drieds decreased by -12.1% to 371K tons in 2022. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +5.4% from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 27% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of 422K tons, and then contracted in the following year.
In value terms, grapes; fresh or dried imports dropped to $425M in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +4.4% from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when imports increased by 23%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $469M, and then dropped in the following year.

Over the period under review, total exports indicated a resilient increase from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +17.3% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +61.3% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 55% against the previous year. In general, total exports indicated a prominent expansion from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +8.6% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +28.3% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 57%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $3.4M, and then declined sharply in the following year.
