The average export price for ginger, saffron, tumeric (curcuma), thyme, bay leaves, curry and other spiceses stood at $2,235 per ton in December 2022, which is down by -23.4% against the previous month. Overall, the export price saw a noticeable shrinkage. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in June 2022 an increase of 18% m-o-m. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum at $3,691 per ton in December 2021; however, from January 2022 to December 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was India ($4,358 per ton), while the average price for exports to Lao People's Democratic Republic ($1,376 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From December 2021 to December 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Pakistan (+11.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In December 2022, the average import price for ginger, saffron, tumeric (curcuma), thyme, bay leaves, curry and other spiceses amounted to $3,397 per ton, growing by 48% against the previous month. Overall, the import price saw a modest increase. As a result, import price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In December 2022, the country with the highest price was Japan ($5,270 per ton), while the price for Nigeria ($1,924 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From December 2021 to December 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Lao People's Democratic Republic (+6.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
