The average import price for ginger, saffron, tumeric (curcuma), thyme, bay leaves, curry and other spiceses stood at $8,199 per ton in January 2024, reducing by -13.3% against the previous month. Overall, the import price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in April 2023 an increase of 18% month-to-month. The import price peaked at $9,460 per ton in December 2023, and then declined in the following month.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Italy ($25,025 per ton), while the price for the Netherlands ($3,922 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2023 to January 2024, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Brazil (+2.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
