The average import price for ginger, saffron, tumeric (curcuma), thyme, bay leaves, curry and other spiceses stood at $6,407 per ton in November 2023, surging by 38% against the previous month. Overall, the import price recorded modest growth. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure at $7,315 per ton in March 2023; however, from April 2023 to November 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Germany ($11,951 per ton), while the price for Italy ($1,915 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From November 2022 to November 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by France (+5.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Overall, the export price showed a noticeable contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in September 2023 when the average export price increased by 47% month-to-month. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $15,483 per ton. From October 2023 to November 2023, the the average export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In November 2023, the country with the highest price was Iceland ($39,432 per ton), while the average price for exports to Norway ($7,120 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From November 2022 to November 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Estonia (+7.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.
