The average export price for ginger, saffron, tumeric (curcuma), thyme, bay leaves, curry and other spiceses stood at $5,183 per ton in February 2022, growing by 8.4% against the previous month. In general, the export price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in October 2021 an increase of 17% m-o-m. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $5,317 per ton. From November 2021 to February 2022, the the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Average prices varied somewhat for the major foreign markets. In February 2022, the country with the highest price was the United States ($5,301 per ton), while the average price for exports to Canada amounted to $4,136 per ton.

From February 2021 to February 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the United States (+0.2%).

The average import price for ginger, saffron, tumeric (curcuma), thyme, bay leaves, curry and other spiceses stood at $1,497 per ton in 2022, standing approx. at the previous year. Overall, import price indicated a temperate increase from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +4.3% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, import price for ginger, saffron, tumeric (curcuma), thyme, bay leaves, curry and other spiceses decreased by -19.7% against 2019 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 an increase of 69%. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $1,865 per ton.
