The average import price for ginger, saffron, tumeric (curcuma), thyme, bay leaves, curry and other spiceses stood at $3,254 per ton in December 2023, reducing by -14.9% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in October 2023 an increase of 17% against the previous month. The import price peaked at $4,080 per ton in June 2023; however, from July 2023 to December 2023, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Mexico ($6,375 per ton), while the price for China ($2,265 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From December 2022 to December 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Peru (+3.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.

Over the period under review, the export price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in February 2023 when the average export price increased by 21% month-to-month. The export price peaked at $4,156 per ton in November 2023, and then shrank in the following month.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was the United States ($5,985 per ton), while the average price for exports to Vietnam ($2,524 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From December 2022 to December 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Barbados (+1.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.
