In March 2022, the average import price for ginger, saffron, tumeric (curcuma), thyme, bay leaves, curry and other spiceses amounted to $2,638 per ton, shrinking by -4.7% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in January 2022 when the average import price increased by 12% m-o-m. The import price peaked at $3,007 per ton in May 2021; however, from June 2021 to March 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In March 2022, the country with the highest price was Vietnam ($6,850 per ton), while the price for Peru ($2,060 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From March 2021 to March 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Brazil (+1.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average export price for ginger, saffron, tumeric (curcuma), thyme, bay leaves, curry and other spiceses stood at $989 per ton in 2022, dropping by -10% against the previous year. Overall, the export price saw a perceptible descent. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 an increase of 97%. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum at $1,680 per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
As there is only one major export destination, the average price level is determined by prices for Russia.

In value terms, exports of ginger, saffron, tumeric (curcuma), thyme, bay leaves, curry and other spiceses reduced remarkably to $751K in 2022. Overall, exports recorded a deep downturn. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 47% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $1.4M, and then dropped significantly in the following year.
