The average import price for ginger, saffron, tumeric (curcuma), thyme, bay leaves, curry and other spiceses stood at $1,488 per ton in 2022, which is down by -3.7% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +3.5%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 when the average import price increased by 25%. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the maximum at $1,653 per ton in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was China ($2,125 per ton), while the price for Tunisia ($1,320 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Luxembourg ($4,310 per ton), while the average price for exports to the United Arab Emirates ($363 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to France (+6.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
