Price for Frozen, Dried and Smoked Fish in Poland (FOB) - 2022

The average export price for frozen, dried and smoked fish stood at $9,999 per ton in 2022, growing by 11% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +2.1%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 when the average export price increased by 16%. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the peak figure in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Italy ($16,751 per ton), while the average price for exports to Ukraine ($1,360 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Romania (+5.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average import price for frozen, dried and smoked fish amounted to $3,882 per ton, picking up by 14% against the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +3.0%. As a result, import price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($5,597 per ton), while the price for Norway ($2,200 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Sweden (+6.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Exports of Frozen, Dried and Smoked Fish in Poland

After three years of growth, overseas shipments of frozen, dried and smoked fish decreased by -2.5% to 185K tons in 2022. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +5.6% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 11%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 190K tons, and then reduced modestly in the following year.

In value terms, frozen, dried and smoked fish exports expanded sharply to $1.8B in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +7.7% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with only minor fluctuations being observed throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when exports increased by 12%. The exports peaked in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in the near future.
