The average export price for ferrous waste and scrap; remelting scrap ingots of iron or steels stood at $368 per ton in August 2023, approximately reflecting the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in January 2023 an increase of 11% m-o-m. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $426 per ton in May 2023; however, from June 2023 to August 2023, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

As there is only one major export destination, the average price level is determined by prices for India.

From October 2022 to August 2023, the rate of growth in terms of prices for the Czech Republic amounted to +2.6% per month.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was Poland ($463 per ton), while the price for Bulgaria ($37.0 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From September 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Poland (+3.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
