In August 2023, the average export price for ferrous waste and scrap; remelting scrap ingots of iron or steels amounted to $380 per ton, with a decrease of -5% against the previous month. Over the last ten-month period, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.6%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in April 2023 when the average export price increased by 11% month-to-month. The export price peaked at $464 per ton in May 2023; however, from June 2023 to August 2023, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In August 2023, the country with the highest price was India ($976 per ton), while the average price for exports to Serbia ($338 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From October 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Austria (+4.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
