The average export price for ferrous waste and scrap; of stainless steels stood at $2,241 per ton in December 2023, jumping by 28% against the previous month. Over the last twelve months, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.7%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in January 2023 an increase of 52% m-o-m. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $2,780 per ton. From February 2023 to December 2023, the the average export prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In December 2023, the country with the highest price was India ($3,977 per ton), while the average price for exports to South Korea totaled $1,541 per ton.

From December 2022 to December 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Italy (+6.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average import price for ferrous waste and scrap; of stainless steels stood at $1,848 per ton in 2022, falling by -19.8% against the previous year. Overall, import price indicated measured growth from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +2.1% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period.
