Price for Ethylene Polymers; Waste, Parings and Scrap in Poland (FOB) - 2023
The average export price for ethylene polymers; waste, parings and scraps stood at $554 per ton in November 2023, with an increase of 9.2% against the previous month. In general, the export price, however, continues to indicate a slight curtailment. The growth pace was the most rapid in December 2022 when the average export price increased by 17% m-o-m. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $745 per ton. From January 2023 to November 2023, the the average export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Belgium ($752 per ton), while the average price for exports to Slovakia ($261 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From November 2022 to November 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Lithuania (+6.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average import price for ethylene polymers; waste, parings and scraps stood at $387 per ton in November 2023, with an increase of 22% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in July 2023 when the average import price increased by 49% against the previous month. The import price peaked at $448 per ton in March 2023; however, from April 2023 to November 2023, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In November 2023, the country with the highest price was Hungary ($1,175 per ton), while the price for Norway ($109 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From November 2022 to November 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by France (+13.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Exports of Ethylene Polymers; Waste, Parings and Scrap in Poland
For the fourth year in a row, Poland recorded growth in shipments abroad of ethylene polymers; waste, parings and scraps, which increased by 15% to 126K tons in 2022. Overall, total exports indicated a strong increase from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +15.1% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +52.6% against 2019 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 25% against the previous year. The exports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.
In value terms, exports of ethylene polymers; waste, parings and scraps soared to $77M in 2022. In general, exports saw significant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 63%. The exports peaked in 2022 and are likely to see steady growth in the immediate term.
