Price for Dried or Salted Fish in the United States (CIF) - 2023
In September 2023, the average dried or salted fish import price amounted to $8,418 per ton, picking up by 31% against the previous month. Over the last twelve months, it increased at an average monthly rate of +2.7%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in May 2023 an increase of 35% against the previous month. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the maximum in September 2023.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Norway ($19,601 per ton), while the price for Tanzania ($2,299 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by South Korea (+13.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average dried or salted fish export price stood at $4,262 per ton in September 2023, growing by 18% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price, however, showed a pronounced slump. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in July 2023 an increase of 231% against the previous month. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $11,674 per ton. From August 2023 to September 2023, the the average export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Cayman Islands ($7,098 per ton), while the average price for exports to Mexico ($2,205 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
