In 2022, the average export price for cocoa; shells, husks, skins and other cocoa wastes amounted to $2,334 per ton, with an increase of 184% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price enjoyed a mild expansion. As a result, the export price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Kuwait ($9,353 per ton), while the average price for exports to Japan totaled $1,823 per ton.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Nigeria (+2.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

The import price peaked at $4,127 per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Tanzania ($3,250 per ton), while the price for Sri Lanka ($317 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Madagascar (+33.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
