In 2022, the average export price for cocoa beans; whole or broken, raw or roasteds amounted to $2,862 per ton, with an increase of 8.5% against the previous year. In general, export price indicated a prominent expansion from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +7.0% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, export price for cocoa beans; whole or broken, raw or roasteds increased by +21.2% against 2017 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 an increase of 38%. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $3,041 per ton in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Average prices varied noticeably for the major export markets. From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Singapore (+12.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In general, the import price, however, recorded mild growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 an increase of 23% against the previous year. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $3,217 per ton. From 2015 to 2022, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.
Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the highest price was recorded for prices from Ecuador ($2,835 per ton) and Madagascar ($2,757 per ton), while the price for Papua New Guinea ($2,611 per ton) and Indonesia ($2,715 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Uganda (+16.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
