The average import price for chromium oxides and hydroxides; excluding chromium trioxides stood at $6,090 per ton in December 2023, picking up by 2.3% against the previous month. Overall, the import price, however, continues to indicate a slight shrinkage. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in July 2023 an increase of 30% against the previous month. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure at $7,379 per ton in February 2023; however, from March 2023 to December 2023, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In December 2023, the country with the highest price was Germany ($8,561 per ton), while the price for China amounted to $5,031 per ton.
From December 2022 to December 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by India (+34.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 48%. As a result, imports attained the peak of 4.6K tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports of remained at a somewhat lower figure.

The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +12.5% from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
