The average export price for cheese, other than blue-veined, grated, powdered or processed stood at $12,785 per ton in December 2023, falling by -2.6% against the previous month. In general, the export price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in November 2023 when the average export price increased by 5.8% month-to-month. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $13,127 per ton, and then shrank slightly in the following month.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Canada ($17,613 per ton), while the average price for exports to Italy ($7,040 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From December 2022 to December 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Canada (+1.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
