In January 2024, the average import price for cheese, other than blue-veined, grated, powdered or processed amounted to $10,491 per ton, with a decrease of -4.4% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in February 2023 an increase of 14% month-to-month. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $11,052 per ton. From March 2023 to January 2024, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In January 2024, the country with the highest price was Spain ($21,059 per ton), while the price for Estonia ($4,366 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2023 to January 2024, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Spain (+2.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
