In August 2023, the average import price for cereals; oats, other than seeds amounted to $296 per ton, waning by -16.2% against the previous month. In general, the import price recorded a slight decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in July 2023 when the average import price increased by 9% m-o-m. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $353 per ton, and then contracted dramatically in the following month.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In August 2023, the country with the highest price was Canada ($11,238 per ton), while the price for the UK totaled $563 per ton.

From December 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Canada (+69.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In August 2023, the average export price for cereals; oats, other than seeds amounted to $520 per ton, with a decrease of -4.2% against the previous month. Over the period from December 2022 to August 2023, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.7%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in July 2023 an increase of 26% m-o-m. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $543 per ton, and then dropped in the following month.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In August 2023, the country with the highest price was Gibraltar ($94,331 per ton), while the average price for exports to Suriname ($1,286 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From December 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the UK (+29.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports of Cereals; Oats, Other than Seed in the Netherlands

For the fourth consecutive year, the Netherlands recorded growth in supplies from abroad of cereals; oats, other than seeds, which increased by 21% to 325K tons in 2022. In general, total imports indicated significant growth from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +23.5% over the last three-year period.
