In August 2023, the average cereals; maize (corn), seed export price amounted to $2,451 per ton, rising by 17% against the previous month. In general, the export price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in May 2023 when the average export price increased by 141% against the previous month. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $5,639 per ton. From June 2023 to August 2023, the the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In August 2023, the country with the highest price was Canada ($26,609 per ton), while the average price for exports to South Korea ($456 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Canada (+19.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
