Price for Cereals; Maize (Corn), Seed in China (FOB) - 2022

In 2022, the average cereals; maize (corn), seed export price amounted to $3,688 per ton, with a decrease of -10% against the previous year. In general, export price indicated a buoyant increase from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +5.0% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, cereals; maize (corn), seed export price decreased by -20.0% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when the average export price increased by 59% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $4,685 per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Vietnam ($5,280 per ton), while the average price for exports to Tajikistan ($1,000 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Iran (+66.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

From 2015 to 2022, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Argentina ($44,511 per ton), while the price for Germany ($9,330 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Argentina (+5.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
