The average import price for cereals; maize (corn), other than seeds stood at $239 per ton in July 2023, declining by -3.6% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price continues to indicate a noticeable curtailment. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in February 2023 an increase of 0.6% month-to-month. The import price peaked at $301 per ton in December 2022; however, from January 2023 to July 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was Russia ($235 per ton), while the price for Moldova ($231 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From December 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Russia (-3.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.

The average export price for cereals; maize (corn), other than seeds stood at $317 per ton in July 2023, standing approximately at the previous month. Overall, the export price showed a pronounced contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in February 2023 when the average export price increased by 18% against the previous month. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $507 per ton. From March 2023 to July 2023, the the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Egypt ($622 per ton), while the average price for exports to Lebanon ($223 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From December 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Cyprus (+15.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

In 2022, approx. 3.4M tons of cereals; maize (corn), other than seeds were imported into Turkey; growing by 48% against the year before. In general, imports, however, recorded a deep contraction.
