In 2022, the average import price for briquettes, ovoids and similar solid fuels; manufactured from coals amounted to $367 per ton, remaining relatively unchanged against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, recorded a prominent increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when the average import price increased by 86%. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the maximum at $402 per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was China ($368 per ton), while the price for the United Arab Emirates totaled $125 per ton.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by China (+9.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.

In 2020, the average export price for briquettes, ovoids and similar solid fuels; manufactured from coals amounted to $2,219 per ton, shrinking by -26.6% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, continues to indicate a significant expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 an increase of 88%. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum at $3,022 per ton in 2019, and then reduced notably in the following year.

As there is only one major export destination, the average price level is determined by prices for Malaysia.

From 2013 to 2020, the rate of growth in terms of prices for Afghanistan amounted to +51.8% per year.

Imports of Briquettes, Ovoids and Similar Solid Fuels; Manufactured from Coal in Pakistan

After three years of growth, supplies from abroad of briquettes, ovoids and similar solid fuels; manufactured from coals decreased by -30.8% to 63 tons in 2022. In general, imports, however, posted significant growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 415%. As a result, imports attained the peak of 91 tons, and then reduced sharply in the following year.

In value terms, imports of briquettes, ovoids and similar solid fuels; manufactured from coals fell rapidly to $23K in 2022. Overall, imports, however, posted significant growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 857%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $34K, and then reduced dramatically in the following year.

In 2020, approx. 105 kg of briquettes, ovoids and similar solid fuels; manufactured from coals were exported from Pakistan; rising by 18% on the previous year. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +18.0% over the period from 2019 to 2020; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, the exports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, exports of briquettes, ovoids and similar solid fuels; manufactured from coals fell to $233 in 2020. Over the period under review, exports, however, faced a deep reduction.
