In June 2023, the average books, brochures and leaflets import price amounted to $9,502 per ton, almost unchanged from the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price, however, recorded a noticeable decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in April 2023 an increase of 16% m-o-m. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the maximum at $12,835 per ton in June 2022; however, from July 2022 to June 2023, import prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was the United States ($19,562 per ton), while the price for China ($3,385 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by France (+2.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average books, brochures and leaflets export price stood at $14,528 per ton in June 2023, shrinking by -12.4% against the previous month. Over the last twelve-month period, it increased at an average monthly rate of +5.0%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in July 2022 when the average export price increased by 62% m-o-m. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum at $16,585 per ton in May 2023, and then fell in the following month.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Germany ($20,003 per ton), while the average price for exports to Sweden ($6,469 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Belgium (+10.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the amount of books, brochures, leaflets and similar printed matter imported into the Netherlands contracted dramatically to 32K tons, dropping by -28.5% compared with 2021 figures. Over the period under review, total exports indicated a resilient increase from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +14.3% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +49.5% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 48%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 23K tons, and then shrank in the following year.

In value terms, books, brochures and leaflets exports declined sharply to $302M in 2022. In general, total exports indicated a resilient expansion from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +7.5% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +26.4% against 2020 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 57%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $375M, and then plummeted in the following year.
