Price for Books, Brochures and Leaflets in Sri Lanka (CIF) - 2022
In 2022, the average books, brochures and leaflets import price amounted to $8,018 per ton, increasing by 17% against the previous year. In general, the import price continues to indicate modest growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 an increase of 177%. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $23,136 per ton. From 2019 to 2022, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Hong Kong SAR ($23,314 per ton), while the price for Canada ($3,476 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Hong Kong SAR (+7.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average books, brochures and leaflets export price amounted to $5,299 per ton, almost unchanged from the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +2.9%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 an increase of 38%. The export price peaked at $6,648 per ton in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Maldives ($8,715 per ton), while the average price for exports to the Philippines ($2,451 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Romania (+25.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Imports of Books, Brochures and Leaflets in Sri Lanka
In 2022, the amount of books, brochures, leaflets and similar printed matter imported into Sri Lanka declined sharply to 811 tons, which is down by -39.5% compared with 2021. Overall, imports recorded a dramatic shrinkage. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 26%.
In value terms, books, brochures and leaflets imports dropped notably to $6.5M in 2022. Over the period under review, imports showed a deep setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 39%.
