Price for Beauty, Make-Up and Skin Care Preparations in Poland (FOB) - 2023

The average export price for beauty, make-up and skin care preparations stood at $11,830 per ton in October 2023, falling by -21.4% against the previous month. Over the last twelve-month period, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.5%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in December 2022 an increase of 17% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $15,051 per ton in September 2023, and then shrank rapidly in the following month.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In October 2023, the country with the highest price was the United States ($19,424 per ton), while the average price for exports to South Africa ($3,781 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From October 2022 to October 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to France (+24.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In October 2023, the average import price for beauty, make-up and skin care preparations amounted to $34,868 per ton, rising by 70% against the previous month. Over the period under review, import price indicated buoyant growth from October 2022 to October 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +6.7% over the last twelve months. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on October 2023 figures, import price for beauty, make-up and skin care preparations increased by +69.5% against September 2023 indices. As a result, import price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In October 2023, the country with the highest price was Canada ($65,563 per ton), while the price for Ukraine ($11,207 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From October 2022 to October 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Netherlands (+12.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Exports of Beauty, Make-Up and Skin Care Preparations in Poland

In 2022, the amount of beauty, make-up and skin care preparations exported from Poland dropped slightly to 163K tons, almost unchanged from the previous year. In general, exports continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 8.8% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 165K tons, and then dropped in the following year.

In value terms, exports of beauty, make-up and skin care preparations declined slightly to $1.6B in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +9.1% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 16%.

The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +11.0% over the period from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 13% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports of hit record highs in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, imports of beauty, make-up and skin care preparations rose to $929M in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +13.9% from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 24%. Over the period under review, imports of reached the peak figure in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in the near future.
