The average asbestos, other than crocidolite import price stood at $2,734 per ton in 2022, with an increase of 7.1% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price continues to indicate a significant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when the average import price increased by 1,220%. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the maximum in 2022 and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the United Arab Emirates ($3,623 per ton), while the price for China ($312 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the United Arab Emirates (+33.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.

The average asbestos, other than crocidolite export price stood at $241 per ton in 2022, reducing by -27.6% against the previous year. Overall, the export price saw a pronounced descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 an increase of 125% against the previous year. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $1,344 per ton. From 2018 to 2022, the average export prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Democratic Republic of the Congo ($241 per ton), while the average price for exports to Rwanda amounted to $143 per ton.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to South Sudan (+41.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +6.9% over the period from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern remained consistent, with only minor fluctuations being observed throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 22%.
