Price for Anionic Surface-Active Agents (Excl. Soap) in Indonesia (FOB) - 2022

The average export price for anionic surface-active agents (excluding soap) stood at $2,125 per ton in March 2022, with an increase of 3.5% against the previous month. Over the period from March 2021 to March 2022, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.8%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in January 2022 when the average export price increased by 9.7% month-to-month. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum in March 2022.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Japan ($3,748 per ton), while the average price for exports to Singapore ($1,303 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From March 2021 to March 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Japan (+4.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Price for Anionic Surface-Active Agents (Excl. Soap) in Indonesia (CIF) - 2022

In March 2022, the average import price for anionic surface-active agents (excluding soap) amounted to $2,061 per ton, picking up by 18% against the previous month. Overall, import price indicated temperate growth from March 2021 to March 2022: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +2.1% over the last twelve months. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on March 2022 figures, anionic surface-active agents (excl. soap) import price increased by +109.1% against January 2022 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in February 2022 when the average import price increased by 78% month-to-month. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $2,485 per ton in November 2021; however, from December 2021 to March 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Germany ($3,570 per ton), while the price for Malaysia ($968 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From March 2021 to March 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by South Korea (+2.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Exports of Anionic Surface-Active Agents (Excl. Soap) in Indonesia

In 2022, shipments abroad of anionic surface-active agents (excluding soap) decreased by -18.9% to 55K tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. Overall, exports saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when exports increased by 11% against the previous year.

In value terms, anionic surface-active agents (excl. soap) exports rose to $118M in 2022. Over the period under review, total exports indicated strong growth from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +17.2% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +61.2% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 39%. The exports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
