Price for Aluminium; Tubes and Pipes in Ghana (CIF) - 2022

The average aluminium; tubes and pipes import price stood at $3,630 per ton in 2022, picking up by 3.2% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 an increase of 18%. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $3,746 per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Italy ($8,398 per ton), while the price for Cote d'Ivoire ($621 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by China (+6.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average aluminium; tubes and pipes export price stood at $2,837 per ton in 2022, waning by -24.1% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price showed a deep slump. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when the average export price increased by 162% against the previous year. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $9,385 per ton. From 2018 to 2022, the average export prices remained at a lower figure.

As there is only one major export destination, the average price level is determined by prices for Togo.

From 2012 to 2022, the rate of growth in terms of prices for Germany amounted to +8.5% per year.

Imports of Aluminium; Tubes and Pipes in Ghana

In 2022, purchases abroad of aluminium; tubes and pipeses decreased by -3% to 506 tons, falling for the second consecutive year after two years of growth. Overall, total imports indicated a resilient increase from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +13.6% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports decreased by -3.5% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when imports increased by 52%. As a result, imports attained the peak of 524 tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, aluminium; tubes and pipes imports stood at $1.8M in 2022. Over the period under review, total imports indicated a significant expansion from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +21.4% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports decreased by -0.1% against 2020 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 79%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $1.8M; afterwards, it flattened through to 2022.

After three years of growth, shipments abroad of aluminium; tubes and pipeses decreased by -9.3% to 7.8 tons in 2022. Overall, exports, however, continue to indicate significant growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 201% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 8.6 tons, and then contracted in the following year.

In value terms, aluminium; tubes and pipes exports fell rapidly to $22K in 2022. In general, exports, however, posted a significant expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 165%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $32K, and then fell dramatically in the following year.
