In March 2022, the average aluminium; powders and flakes import price amounted to $4,417 per ton, dropping by -24.9% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in July 2021 an increase of 80% against the previous month. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $7,543 per ton. From August 2021 to March 2022, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In March 2022, the country with the highest price was Germany ($13,916 per ton), while the price for China ($3,585 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From March 2021 to March 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by India (+2.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.

In 2022, the average aluminium; powders and flakes export price amounted to $337 per ton, increasing by 291% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $613 per ton in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was China ($773 per ton), while the average price for exports to Japan ($30 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
