Price for Apples, Pears and Quinces; Fresh in the United States (FOB) - 2023
The average export price for apples, pears and quinces; freshes stood at $1,253 per ton in June 2023, remaining stable against the previous month. Overall, the export price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in November 2022 when the average export price increased by 11% against the previous month. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $1,394 per ton. From December 2022 to June 2023, the the average export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Taiwan (Chinese) ($1,946 per ton), while the average price for exports to Guatemala ($1,042 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Taiwan (Chinese) (+5.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average import price for apples, pears and quinces; freshes stood at $1,764 per ton in June 2023, falling by -5.3% against the previous month. In general, the import price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in December 2022 when the average import price increased by 21% m-o-m. The import price peaked at $2,248 per ton in January 2023; however, from February 2023 to June 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In June 2023, the country with the highest price was South Korea ($3,766 per ton), while the price for China ($1,109 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Canada (+8.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, approx. 804K tons of apples, pears and quinces; freshes were exported from the United States; reducing by -6.8% on the year before. In general, exports saw a deep downturn. The smallest decline of -6.2% was in 2020.
In value terms, apples, pears and quinces; fresh exports contracted slightly to $1B in 2022. Over the period under review, exports saw a pronounced slump. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 7.6%.
