In December 2022, the average import price for aluminium; plates, sheets and strip, thickness exceeding 0.2mm, alloys, rectangular (including square)s amounted to $7,330 per ton, increasing by 14% against the previous month. In general, the import price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in October 2022 when the average import price increased by 33% m-o-m. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $7,968 per ton. From November 2022 to December 2022, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In December 2022, the country with the highest price was Austria ($19,462 per ton), while the price for China ($2,565 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From December 2021 to December 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Austria (+11.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average export price for aluminium; plates, sheets and strip, thickness exceeding 0.2mm, alloys, rectangular (including square)s stood at $3,930 per ton in 2022, picking up by 16% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, continues to indicate a noticeable descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 an increase of 81% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the peak figure at $6,420 per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was France ($23,718 per ton), while the average price for exports to Lebanon ($2,040 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Canada (+12.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Over the period under review, total imports indicated strong growth from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +10.1% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +50.4% against 2020 indices. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, imports of aluminium; plates, sheets and strip, thickness exceeding 0.2mm, alloys, rectangular (including square)s soared to $57M in 2022. In general, total imports indicated buoyant growth from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +14.1% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +96.6% against 2020 indices. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

As a result, the exports attained the peak of 85 tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports of failed to regain momentum.
