In September 2022, the average import price for aluminium oxide (including artificial corundum); aluminium hydroxide amounted to $2,387 per ton, surging by 17% against the previous month. Over the period under review, import price indicated a perceptible increase from January 2022 to September 2022: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +3.1% over the last eight-month period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on September 2022 figures, import price for aluminium oxide (including artificial corundum); aluminium hydroxide increased by +17.1% against August 2022 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in June 2022 an increase of 100% month-to-month. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $3,005 per ton in February 2022; however, from March 2022 to September 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In September 2022, the country with the highest price was the United States ($8,641 per ton), while the price for Malaysia ($950 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2022 to September 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Canada (+10.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average export price for aluminium oxide (including artificial corundum); aluminium hydroxide stood at $5,753 per ton in 2022, reducing by -34.1% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, posted strong growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 when the average export price increased by 206%. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum at $8,735 per ton in 2021, and then shrank notably in the following year.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Japan ($16,934 per ton), while the average price for exports to Indonesia ($2,040 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Oman (+42.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

After three years of growth, supplies from abroad of aluminium oxide (including artificial corundum); aluminium hydroxide decreased by -4.4% to 10K tons in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, posted a significant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 241%. As a result, imports reached the peak of 11K tons, and then reduced modestly in the following year.
In value terms, imports of aluminium oxide (including artificial corundum); aluminium hydroxide amounted to $20M in 2022. In general, imports, however, posted significant growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when imports increased by 269%. Over the period under review, imports of reached the maximum in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in the near future.

In general, exports saw significant growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 50% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports of hit record highs in 2022 and are likely to see steady growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, exports of aluminium oxide (including artificial corundum); aluminium hydroxide shrank notably to $17M in 2022. Over the period under review, exports recorded significant growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 288%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $21M, and then declined significantly in the following year.
