In June 2023, the average aluminium; alloys, hollow profiles import price amounted to $7,100 per ton, falling by -5.2% against the previous month. In general, the import price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in November 2022 when the average import price increased by 18% m-o-m. The import price peaked at $7,493 per ton in May 2023, and then shrank in the following month.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Slovenia ($8,931 per ton), while the price for Serbia ($4,500 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Switzerland (+3.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average aluminium; alloys, hollow profiles export price amounted to $6,326 per ton, rising by 16% against the previous year. In general, export price indicated a strong increase from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +5.1% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, aluminium; alloys, hollow profiles export price increased by +83.1% against 2016 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 an increase of 23% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the peak figure in 2022 and is likely to continue growth in the near future.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Austria ($8,797 per ton), while the average price for exports to Sweden ($5,463 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Austria (+7.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Imports of Aluminium; Alloys, Hollow Profiles in Hungary
In 2022, imports of aluminium; alloys, hollow profileses into Hungary shrank to 18K tons, with a decrease of -7.9% compared with 2021. Overall, imports saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 11%. As a result, imports attained the peak of 20K tons, and then declined in the following year.
In value terms, aluminium; alloys, hollow profiles imports surged to $120M in 2022. In general, total imports indicated a buoyant expansion from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +14.9% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +52.8% against 2020 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 32%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.

Over the period under review, exports enjoyed a significant increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 953% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, aluminium; alloys, hollow profiles exports skyrocketed to $123M in 2022. Overall, exports posted a significant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 992% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.
