Price for Aluminium; Alloys, Bars, Rods and Profiles, Other than Hollow in Uganda (FOB) - 2022
In 2022, the average export price for aluminium; alloys, bars, rods and profiles, other than hollows amounted to $3,074 per ton, which is down by -8.1% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when the average export price increased by 54%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $5,050 per ton. From 2018 to 2022, the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Tanzania ($3,934 per ton), while the average price for exports to China ($1,771 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Tanzania (+7.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

The average import price for aluminium; alloys, bars, rods and profiles, other than hollows stood at $4,866 per ton in 2022, picking up by 27% against the previous year. In general, import price indicated pronounced growth from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +4.8% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, import price for aluminium; alloys, bars, rods and profiles, other than hollows increased by +96.6% against 2013 indices. As a result, import price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Egypt ($6,301 per ton), while the price for Turkey ($2,558 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the United Arab Emirates (+10.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

After three years of growth, overseas shipments of aluminium; alloys, bars, rods and profiles, other than hollows decreased by -4% to 716 tons in 2022. Overall, exports, however, recorded a significant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when exports increased by 373%.

In 2022, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in purchases abroad of aluminium; alloys, bars, rods and profiles, other than hollows, when their volume decreased by -55% to 193 tons. In general, imports, however, posted a perceptible expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 78% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of 430 tons, and then fell remarkably in the following year.
In value terms, imports of aluminium; alloys, bars, rods and profiles, other than hollows dropped significantly to $941K in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, recorded a strong increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 85%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $1.7M, and then dropped dramatically in the following year.
