In November 2023, the average export price for aluminium; alloys, bars, rods and profiles, other than hollows amounted to $4,688 per ton, almost unchanged from the previous month. Overall, the export price showed a mild decrease. The growth pace was the most rapid in September 2023 an increase of 15% m-o-m. The export price peaked at $5,522 per ton in December 2022; however, from January 2023 to November 2023, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Average prices varied somewhat for the major external markets. In November 2023, the countries with the highest prices were the Czech Republic ($5,286 per ton) and France ($5,229 per ton), while the average price for exports to Spain ($3,711 per ton) and the Netherlands ($3,816 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From December 2022 to November 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Belgium (-1.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

In November 2023, the average import price for aluminium; alloys, bars, rods and profiles, other than hollows amounted to $5,460 per ton, rising by 4.7% against the previous month. In general, the import price, however, continues to indicate a mild decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in July 2023 an increase of 4.8% m-o-m. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure at $6,260 per ton in August 2023; however, from September 2023 to November 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In November 2023, the country with the highest price was France ($14,076 per ton), while the price for Malaysia ($4,308 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From December 2022 to November 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by France (+2.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
Exports of Aluminium; Alloys, Bars, Rods and Profiles, Other than Hollow in Portugal
In 2022, the amount of aluminium; alloys, bars, rods and profiles, other than hollows exported from Portugal rose sharply to 44K tons, picking up by 5.4% compared with 2021. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +4.6% from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when exports increased by 23% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports of hit record highs in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in the near future.
In value terms, exports of aluminium; alloys, bars, rods and profiles, other than hollows skyrocketed to $245M in 2022. Overall, exports saw a resilient expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 52%. The exports peaked in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in the immediate term.
