The average import price for alkali metals; other than sodia stood at $70,143 per ton in 2022, rising by 13% against the previous year. Overall, the import price saw a significant increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when the average import price increased by 147% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure in 2022 and is likely to see gradual growth in years to come.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($156,000 per ton), while the price for India ($6,100 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
