In 2022, the average import price for acyclic alcohols and their halogenated, sulphonated, nitrated or nitrosated derivativeses amounted to $1,034 per ton, falling by -10.2% against the previous year. Overall, import price indicated a mild expansion from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +1.7% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, import price for acyclic alcohols and their halogenated, sulphonated, nitrated or nitrosated derivativeses increased by +50.0% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when the average import price increased by 35% against the previous year. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $1,151 per ton, and then declined in the following year.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Singapore ($2,067 per ton), while the price for Oman ($592 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by India (+10.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average export price for acyclic alcohols and their halogenated, sulphonated, nitrated or nitrosated derivativeses stood at $2,800 per ton in 2022, waning by -19.4% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, posted a prominent increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 when the average export price increased by 57% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the peak figure at $3,475 per ton in 2021, and then shrank notably in the following year.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Maldives ($7,152 per ton), while the average price for exports to Kenya ($1,857 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Bangladesh (+10.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Imports of Acyclic Alcohols and Their Halogenated, Sulphonated, Nitrated or Nitrosated Derivatives in Sri Lanka
In 2022, purchases abroad of acyclic alcohols and their halogenated, sulphonated, nitrated or nitrosated derivativeses decreased by -32% to 21K tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. Overall, imports showed a perceptible setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 32% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of 31K tons, and then shrank markedly in the following year.
In value terms, imports of acyclic alcohols and their halogenated, sulphonated, nitrated or nitrosated derivativeses shrank sharply to $22M in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed buoyant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 78% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $36M, and then fell rapidly in the following year.
