In January 2024, the average export price for activated carbon; activated natural mineral products; animal black, including spent animal blacks amounted to $1,175 per ton, with an increase of 32% against the previous month. Over the last twelve-month period, it increased at an average monthly rate of +3.5%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in February 2023 when the average export price increased by 36% month-to-month. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the peak figure in January 2024.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In January 2024, the country with the highest price was India ($3,471 per ton), while the average price for exports to Saudi Arabia ($214 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2023 to January 2024, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Vietnam (+10.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average import price for activated carbon; activated natural mineral products; animal black, including spent animal blacks stood at $627 per ton in 2022, picking up by 9.2% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, recorded a noticeable decrease. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 when the average import price increased by 21%. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $836 per ton. From 2015 to 2022, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($1,251 per ton), while the price for Namibia ($262 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by India (+5.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.

After two years of decline, overseas shipments of activated carbon; activated natural mineral products; animal black, including spent animal blacks increased by 24% to 57K tons in 2022. Overall, exports, however, showed a deep downturn.
