Preserved Tomato Price in Italy (FOB) - 2023
The average preserved tomato export price stood at $1,352 per ton in June 2023, approximately reflecting the previous month. Over the period from June 2022 to June 2023, it increased at an average monthly rate of +2.9%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in September 2022 when the average export price increased by 8.5% m-o-m. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum at $1,368 per ton in May 2023, and then contracted slightly in the following month.
Average prices varied somewhat for the major export markets. In June 2023, the countries with the highest prices were Sweden ($1,625 per ton) and Poland ($1,536 per ton), while the average price for exports to Belgium ($1,198 per ton) and the Netherlands ($1,201 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Poland (+3.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average preserved tomato import price stood at $953 per ton in June 2023, rising by 4.7% against the previous month. In general, the import price enjoyed moderate growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in July 2022 an increase of 124% month-to-month. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $1,905 per ton in January 2023; however, from February 2023 to June 2023, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In June 2023, the country with the highest price was Spain ($1,200 per ton), while the price for Turkey ($831 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Spain (+8.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
