Preserved Sweet Corn Price in Nigeria (CIF) - 2022

The average preserved sweet corn import price stood at $1,070 per ton in June 2022, with an increase of 6.5% against the previous month. In general, the import price enjoyed a moderate expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in December 2021 an increase of 902% month-to-month. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $8,461 per ton. From January 2022 to June 2022, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.

Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In June 2022, the country with the highest price was the UK ($1,125 per ton), while the price for France amounted to $1,005 per ton.

From June 2021 to June 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the UK (+11.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Preserved Sweet Corn Price in Nigeria (FOB) - 2022

The average preserved sweet corn export price stood at $4,576 per ton in 2022, increasing by 22% against the previous year. Overall, the export price recorded mild growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 an increase of 63% against the previous year. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $11,625 per ton. From 2019 to 2022, the average export prices failed to regain momentum.

Average prices varied somewhat for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Belgium ($4,797 per ton), while the average price for exports to Benin stood at $3,405 per ton.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Benin (-0.5%).

Preserved Sweet Corn Imports in Nigeria

For the fourth consecutive year, Nigeria recorded growth in overseas purchases of sweet corn prepared or preserved, which increased by 14% to 1.9K tons in 2022. Over the period under review, imports posted significant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 441% against the previous year. Imports peaked in 2022 and are likely to see steady growth in years to come.

In value terms, preserved sweet corn imports skyrocketed to $4.4M in 2022. In general, imports enjoyed significant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 604% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum in 2022 and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Preserved Sweet Corn Exports in Nigeria

In 2022, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in shipments abroad of sweet corn prepared or preserved, when their volume decreased by -27% to 745 kg.
