Potato Chips Price in the United Arab Emirates (FOB) - 2022
The average potato chips export price stood at $5,194 per ton in 2022, with a decrease of -18.3% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, posted prominent growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when the average export price increased by 138%. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the peak figure at $6,354 per ton in 2021, and then shrank markedly in the following year.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Japan ($12,452 per ton), while the average price for exports to France ($1,906 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Oman (+17.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average potato chips import price amounted to $5,259 per ton, declining by -8.4% against the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +3.9%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when the average import price increased by 35%. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure at $5,739 per ton in 2021, and then declined in the following year.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Italy ($6,654 per ton), while the price for India ($3,221 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Germany (+11.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Potato Chips Exports in the United Arab Emirates
After three years of growth, shipments abroad of potato chips decreased by -6.8% to 1.4K tons in 2022. Overall, total exports indicated a strong expansion from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +15.1% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +52.6% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 34%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 1.5K tons, and then shrank in the following year.
In value terms, potato chips exports shrank dramatically to $7.1M in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, recorded a significant expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when exports increased by 91%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $9.3M, and then fell sharply in the following year.
